Infant Lessons (6+ months)
Our primary focus for this age is water acclimation. We focus on calming existing fears of the pool while preventing the formation of others. In addition, we instill the proper techniques for breathing, facial submersion, and horizontal body position—all essential for your beginning swimmer.
The
sinkorSWIM Academy encourages your child to have fun while learning in the privacy and comfort of your own pool. We proudly serve the LA area— from West Hollywood to the beach, and everywhere in between. Each of our experienced instructors is WSI (Water Safety Instruction), CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certified.Child/Toddler Lessons
We focus on building a personal relationship with the student. Starting out, our lesson plan is based around building confidence and winning trust — both in the instructor and in themselves. We begin by skillfully incorporating ‘fun and play’ activities to curb initial fears, allowing us to then teach proper pool safety techniques, that will build a child’s confidence and give a parent peace of mind
Water Safety
By teaching the essential basics—including proper breathing, push-offs to and from steps/walls, horizontal body position and the back float.—we prepare our students for a Safety Swim. A Safety Swim is accomplished when a child can independently jump in the pool, spin around, and swim back to the side and pull himself out of the pool. Ability to dependently perform a back float completes Water Safety Training.
Stroke Work
Beyond Water Safety, at Sink Or Swim, we teach your child stroke techniques that are not merely effective, but more importantly, efficient; resulting in a stronger, safer swimmer. Good stroke technique requires individual parts of the whole body working seamlessly together. For the sake of simplicity and overall retention, each stroke is broken down into individual parts for our students. Once each part is properly learned, they are combined.
Adult Lessons
It’s never too late to learn! We will teach you or your caregiver how to swim comfortably and properly after only a handful of lessons.
Stroke/Technique Refinement
Attaining efficiency is the goal here. Identifying improper techniques and correcting them by applying proper stroke work is a must for anyone who desires an enjoyable swimming experience. Swimming is a healthy full-body and low-impact workout; however, understanding and applying proper stroke work is essential in order to maximize your workout potential and to prevent unnecessary injuries caused by improper techniques. So whether you’re preparing for summer camp, swim team, swimming for fitness, or simply swimming for leisure, we will help you achieve your goal.

...see you in the water!
